On the surface, Craigslist and synthesizers have nothing in common. But experimental pop band Blood Sound proves that the two are a match made in DIY heaven.

Drawing influences from new wave acts such as Joy Division and New Order, Blood Sound modernizes the best elements the genre has to offer. Vocalist and drum programmer Chris J., bassist Tristan McKeever, and guitarist Vincent Tkac, all of whom also play the synth, met on the music section of Craigslist and have created alluring experimental music ever since. Dubbing its music “dark prom pop,” the synth driven trio cultivates a mysterious, alternative sound that is as unique as its self proclaimed genre.

Blood Sound’s latest album, “True Romance Magazines,” is divided into two parts. In the simple words of McKeever, part one serves as the “synth side,” while part two is comprised of the “drum and bass side.” The decision to dedicate one half of its album to the instrumentation of synthesizers solidifies the unconventional goodness of Blood Sound.

Blood Sound’s music can be found on Bandcamp. You can also like the band on Facebook by searching “Blood Sound.”
