Temple Student Government held elections for parliament this past Tuesday and Wednesday.

Parliament, a new addition to TSG, was introduced in Fall 2016 after TSG updated the Constitution.

Temple’s parliament includes 37 representative seats: 12 school/college-based, 10 based on graduation year, 10 seats for groups like the Honors College, Greek life, commuters, and International students.

The purpose of the parliament is to advocate for Temple student’s body for the voices of all perspectives.

Marissa Martini won an at-large position in parliament. The news was announced Friday morning. She explains why she believes parliament is a crucial part of TSG>

“The most crucial part of parliament is it acts as the bridge between students and the Executive board,” Martini said. “Parliament creates [and] proposes legislation to send up to the executive branch so parliament is able to create legislation to solve issues for the students.”

Martini, along with all other elected parliament members, will officially take office this fall.
