For the tenth time in a row, the #1 UConn Huskies took down the Temple Owls 113-57. Temple won its first two matchups against UConn, with the Huskies controlling the all-time series 10-2.

The Owls were able to grab the first several points of the game, coming out the gate nabbing six points until UConn’s first bucket. Temple was able to hold their only lead for 3:01 in the first quarter.

Two Temple stars were able to score in double digits. Senior guard Tanaya Atkinson had 15 points with just three rebounds, while freshman Mia Davis had a team-high of 19 points and nabbed four boards.

“This is always a game that I look forward to, for my players to play against the very best,” coach Tonya Cardoza said. “Throwing freshmen out there and being able to compete against some of the best players in the country, you just want to go out there and compete, and I felt like we did.”

“I feel like it shows you what you could work on and what you’re doing well,” Atkinson said. “So I feel like we’re going to come in tomorrow, watch film, see what we could work on and see what we could build off of.”

Temple will host its fourth Big 5 matchup this season against the University of Pennsylvania Quakers on Wednesday, January 24th at 7 pm.
