It has been a week for pop superstar Ariana Grande. Earlier this week, reports surfaced revealing that the songstress was originally supposed to perform at this weekend’s 61st Annual Grammy Awards, but has decided to pull out of the gig.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich told the Associated Press that Grande was not performing because she felt that it was “too late for her to pull something together.”

Ariana, who is up for two awards at this weekend’s ceremony, took to Twitter to set the record straight. She wrote:

“I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. I can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”

She continues, “it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”

The “creativity” and “self-expression” Grande refers to can be heard on her newest album, “Thank U, Next”, which was released today. The album is already a huge success, currently occupying the #1 spot on the worldwide iTunes chart and is receiving rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and Vulture.

Check out the album on all streaming platforms and tune in to the 61st Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday. Grande is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for “God Is a Woman” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Sweetener.”
