A new charity compilation called Through The Soil is being released on April 2. All of the profits from the 68-track release will be going to National Alliance on Mental Illnesss’ COVID-19 Mental Health Support Fund. This fund is meant to provide more widespread access to mental health resources for people who have been suffering due to the pandemic. A number of Philadelphia artists are featured on the compilation including Spirit of the Beehive, A Country Western, RNIE, and Teen Suicide.

Through The Soil was put together by Andres Villogas and Steven Danglis who met in an online music discussion chat room during the pandemic. The two wanted to find a creative way to raise money for mental health awareness. The compilation is centered around “capturing a trans-generational snapshot of the DIY/bedroom lo-fi indie scene,” according to press materials.

The cover photo was shot by Phil Elverum, and the liner notes and additional artwork were done by artist Sami Martasian. The pre-order has already sold out on Bandcamp but there is a digital streaming option. The full tracklist is below.
