Sebastian Ingrosso & Dirty South Take Over Philly!

By: Kevin Schoenfeld

This past Saturday (9/28/13) two of EDM’s hottest DJ’s, Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia and opening act Dirty South performed at Festival Pier near Penn’s Landing. The show, which lasted from 7:30pm-11pm was filled with non-stop energy, electricity, strobe/laser lights, glow sticks, smoke machines, music, dancing and all around good vibes. It was virtually impossible not to enjoy yourself at this show.

Dirty South, who started off performing from 7:30-9:15, was absolutely amazing! Prior to the show, I was never really a Dirty South fan but his performance inspired me to stream and even purchase some tracks off his most recent album Speed of Life. Of course he dropped his classics such as City of Dreams, Rift, Until the End, and Something Like You during his performance.

While Dirty South was amazing, I must say Sebastian Ingrosso made the show and absolutely killed it with his mixes. He made the crowd go insane with his original remixes of various house, trance, dance, and even some mainstream tracks such as Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Ray, All Night by Icona Pop, If I Lose Myself by OneRepublic vs. Alesso, Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap, and Doin’ It Right by Daft Punk. He dropped Swedish House Mafia classics such as Don’t You Worry Child, Save the World, Antidote, Greyhound, Miami 2 Ibiza, and In My Mind. Sebastian of course included his own originals such as Calling, We Come We Rave We Love, Roar, and concluded the show with his latest single Reload, which generated an indescribable amount energy and sense of community within the crowd. As a dedicated Swedish House Mafia fan it makes me extremely happy to know that, although the group went their separate ways, the legend still lives on. I would most definitely recommend seeing him the next time he rolls through Philly for an unforgettable experience!
