Jim Kenney, Philadelphia’s 99th mayor, sworn into office

Jim Kenney was sworn in as the 99th Mayor of Philadelphia. Kenney has said that he wants to pursue a government that works for everybody regardless of which part of Philadelphia you live in. Kenney highlighted several areas where he wants to make improvements including public safety, education, and poverty. Many people are optimistic that Kenney’s tenure will be the dawn of a new era in Philadelphia. Kenney has boasted his abilities to work with City Council to produce meaningful legislation and not contribute to political gridlock. Eager to get moving, Kenney concluded his speech by saying, “God bless you, and let’s go to work.”
