Klein College Holds Annual Career Fair; Sees Record Numbers

BY CASSIE SEMYON

The Klein College Career Fair took over the Student Center Thursday, bringing 80 employers and over 600 students out to look for their next job or internship.

This is the first year the fair has brought 80 prospective employers to students, including multiple alumni returning to the nest to promote companies they work for or founded themselves. This includes 20/20 Visual Media, ChatterBlast, Tweed Video, Flackable, and more.

Students interested in public relations, news, advertising, sports, and more filled the room, chatting with employers and recruiters, reviewing resumes, and talking about potential opportunities.

Lu Ann Cahn, director of Career Services at the Klein College Career Center, has been putting on the event for three years since she first arrived at Temple University. She and her staff of students facilitate the fair from registration to execution over the course of multiple months.

In previous years, the fair has been held at Mitten Hall. But as the event has continued to grow, the venue had to be reevaluated. This is the first time the fair was held at the Student Center.

Students say this career fair is exactly what they need as they prepare to graduate and hunt for their first jobs in their respective fields.

“I thought it was a great opportunity for students to meet with potential employers for full-time jobs and internships,” Becca Rosenblatt, a senior Media Studies and Production student said. ” As someone looking for a full-time job in just a few months after I graduate, I was able to make some really great connections at the career fair.”

Those looking to head into news weren’t the only students who were excited about their opportunities following the fair.

McCall Cox, a senior advertising student, said the fair helps to make internships and employment options more accessible.

“It’s a great way to provide students the opportunity to meet face to face with these brands to foster a passion for the future,” said Cox.

Klein College Career Services is open from 9 am to 5 pm weekdays in Annenberg Hall, room 7.
