Memorable Moments Get Students Exploring Center City

By: Nathan Weaver

This past week the Student Activities Board at Temple University had their first ever Memorable Moments trip to a Brazilian Steak House in Center City called Chima.

Memorable Moments is a group of events that the Student Activities board runs in order to give Temple students the ability to explore the different culture of food displayed throughout the city of Philadelphia that students otherwise would not be able to experience. This past Tuesday The Student Activities Board took their first group of 40 students for dinner at a Brazilian Steak House called Chima.

The lucky Temple students enjoyed their night, starting out with a salad bar that was filled with many different types of salads, cheeses, and even smoked salmon. Their servers walked around with skewers of salmon, steak, and chicken cooked to perfection. The glowing faces of the students lit up the room as they were able to sample all the types of food while mingling with their peers they see around campus.

All Temple students are able to sign up to go on the trip through Owl Connect, but only the first 40 students signed up received spots to the restaurant. On the other hand, there is a waitlist for people that may have been late signing up and did not get a spot right away for the trip. Temple student Riley Timmer was one of these people on the waitlist. He arrived at check in the night of the event and was accepted to go on the trip as a fill in for someone that hadn’t shown up for the event that night.

The next trip will be to Alma De Cuba on October 19. Registration starts at noon on Oct 5 and the trip will be departing at 5:30 p.m. on Oct 19.  Only the first 40 people will be accepted for the trip and a waitlist will be created  of interested students that contact the Student Activities Board after the list is filled. The last trip list filled up in the first four minutes of registration.
