Just three days before Election Day, Democratic state representative and candidate for Pennsylvania lieutenant governor Austin Davis called in to WHIP News. We talked with him about students voting, the campaign trail, and the political landscape leading up to Election Day.

Rep. Davis, who was endorsed by Democratic gubernatorial nominee Josh Shapiro in the primary, won the three-candidate primary with 63% support. He is serving his third term in the State House of Representatives.

After Josh Shapiro’s victory on Election Day, Davis is set to be Pennsylvania’s first Black lieutenant governor. At 33 years old, he will also be the youngest to hold the position.

Davis and Shapiro will be sworn in on Jan. 17. A special election will be called to fill his seat in the State House.

Editors Note: WHIP News reached out to the campaigns of both Doug Mastriano and Josh Shapiro for interview requests. This interview has been edited to account for technical difficulties during the broadcast; no content has been changed.
