Women’s Tennis Team Cruises by UMES for Sixth Straight Win

WRITTEN BY: DAN WANSER

This past Friday morning at the TU Pavilion, neither the weather nor the teams playing would disappoint.

Coming in to the day’s match against the University of Maryland Eastern Shores on a five game winning streak after beating Farleigh Dickinson the previous Sunday, the Lady Owls jumped out to a quick start sweeping the six singles matches, winning all of them in 6-0, 6-0 fashion.

“The girls have been practicing hard, they’ve been working hard,” said head coach, Steve Mauro. “Today they did a good job. It was a good match for them to get ready for the conference tournament.”

Since the match was already decided and had started an hour later than scheduled – 9 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., the doubles matches were not played and the match ended in a 6-0 victory for the Owls.
