2019 Razzie Nominations Are In!

It is that time of year again, the red carpet is rolling out, and Oscar season is on it’s way. With nominations in for the best of the best, the worst of the worst must also be considered. The nominations for the 39th Annual Razzie Awards were announced on the eve of the Oscar nominations as is tradition.

This year’s nominees for worst picture include Gotti, The Happytime Murders, Holmes and Watson, Robin Hood, and Winchester.

Ladies in the race for worst actress include Jennifer Garner in Peppermint, Amber Heard in London Fields, Melissa McCarthy in Happytime Murders and Life of the Party, Helen Mirren in Winchester, and Amanda Seyfried in The Clapper.

Johnny Depp received a Worst Actor nomination for his voice over work in Sherlock Gnomes, as did Will Ferrell for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in Holmes and Watson. Donald Trump was nominated for playing himself in Death of a Nation and Fahrenheit 11/9. Bruce Willis also received a nomination for his role in Death Wish.

Kellyanne Conway (as herself) in Fahrenheit 11/9, Marcia Gay Harden in 50 Shades Freed, Kelly Preston in Gotti, Jaz Sinclair in Slender Man, and Melania Trump (as herself) in Fahrenheit 11/9 all received nominations for Worst Supporting Actress.

Worst Supporting Actor nominations include Jamie Foxx in Robin Hood, Ludacris (voice only) in Show Dogs, Joel McHale in The Happytime Murders, John C. Reily in Holmes and Watson, Justice Smith in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Nominations for Worst Screen Combo are as follows: Any Two Actors or Puppets in The Happytime Murders, Johnny Depp & His Fast-Fading Film Career in Sherlock Gnomes, Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly (Trashing Two of Literature’s Most Beloved Characters) in Holmes & Watson, Kelly Preston & John Travolta in Gotti, and Donald J. Trump & His Self-Perpetuating Pettiness in Death of a Nation and Fahrenheit 11/9.

Death of a Nation, Death Wish, Holmes and Watson, The Meg, and Robin Hood all earned a nomination for Worst Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel.

Worst director nominees include Etan Cohen for Holmes & Watson, Kevin Connolly for Gotti, James Foley for Fifty Shades Freed, Brian Henson for The Happytime Murders, and The Spierig Brothers (Michael and Peter) for Winchester.

Rounding out the nominations are the films nominated for Worst Screenplay. Death of a Nation, Gotti, Fifty Shades Freed, The Happytime Murders and Winchester all received a Worst Screenplay nomination.

Winners will be announced on February 23rd, the night before the 91st Academy Awards.
